1, Competrol-Dnitatea Vitan was called before its nationalisation the Techno-
Marina Factory, It is attached to the Ministry for Tana? and Fuel, and
its address is Samna Vitan No. 112, Bucharest. ,
2. Until February 1951 this plant manufactured ointments, boot wax, parquet
polish, and casks, The whole installation is to be dismounted (sic), and
the premises of the factory turned over to 'the Scientific Reseaach Insti-
tute of the Ministry for !tines and Fuel. 30 far the installation for
ointments only has been dismounted, and the machinery has not yet been
removed, though the USSR was much interested in the production, 'which was
exported exclusively to the USSR.
3. The reason for the dismounting operation is the high cost of transporting
the raw, materials to the Bucharest plant. The raw materials in question
are mineral and vegetal oil, tallow and sonit. Two other factories for
ointnents located in Teleajen and Stalin (Brasov), mayhems lower trans-
portation costs.
4.. The casks and wax are still being produced. The daily cask output is
500 liters (sic) and the casks have a capacIty of 200 liters. The casks
are sold to the Ministry of Food and .to the other ointment factories.
Source does not knew the daily output of vex but states that it is for
internal trade only and that the boot ponshes made of this wax have the
name Ego and Gladys; names known in Rumania before the war.
5. The plant has its own generating plant, consisting of three steam engines
heated with the residues of cask wood and unrefined oil. In the nroduca
tion of wax, small machines for mixing and cooling are used, all of
Runanian origin and of rather simple construction. In the production of
casks, the machines used are of foreign origin and in good condition.
