1. It was learned that, early in September? 1951, Felix Gordon Ordas, a Sr:anish
Republican resident in ~'exico, arrived in Guaterna1a, Gordon Ordo.s, who had
been charged by the President of the Spanish Republ,ic,%n Government in Exile
with the formation of a nev. government after the resignation of Alvaro
Albornnz, went to Guatemala for the specific purpose of getting in touch
with President Arbenz and asking financial aid from the Government of Guate-
mala for the Spanish Republican Government in. Paris. He also v.ished to
present irrbenz with a plan to have an Ambassador of the Spanish Republic
appointed to Guatemala if the financial situat -orn w uld permit.
2. PresidentCirbsnz is said to have received Gordon Ordas t:ith extreme cor-
diality and affirmed. his good twill. towards the Spanish Hbpublic. .'rbenz
stated that he was in favor of having an Ambassador from the Spanish
Repurhlic, but that the question of financial aid would have to ~?e studied
at a later (late because of ' he economic difficulties of Guatemala at the
