1. The central office of the Comznissione Assistenza Roduci e Soldati (CA.RS;
Commission for the Aid of Soldiers and Veterans), under the direction of
the Italian Communist Party, has ordered the establishment of Party
schools for Italian soldiers,
2. CARS made this decision after many requests by young activists who did
not wish to lose contaeLi with their Sections and schools during their
service in the armed forces.
3o The courses are restricted. special teaching aids are used to supple-
ment the standardized "Stalin and Gramsci" courses,, The instructors of
these shcools are generally not civilian. teachers but political heads
or agitation-propaganda members of the Sections,
4. Soldiers from the barracks are divided into groups according to their
political preparation,, Each group then attends different lessons.
Generally, the lessons are held at the headquarters of the Section.
5. In Rome,, there are Party schools for soldiers in the following Sections:
a. Centocelle - 7 members
b. Esqu3lino -A 10 members
Co Macao - 6 members
other schools are in the process of being established,
6. 'According to the orders of the Federation, the Sections nearest to the
military units must give the greatest aid to the Communist soldiers in
this capacity.
C s Previous reports have alleged that CARS was dis-
banded because of its failure to carry out its activities in the Ital-
ian armed forces, However? recent reports mention CARS as still being
active as a Italian Communist Party organization,,
