1. At the 30 October meeting at the Peak Receiving Center, i+aoao,l it was
resolved to close all Chinese Communist trading organizations in iaoao by
the and of .November 1961. By 28 October the Nan siuang Trading Company
had dispatched all purchased goods to the Chinese mainland, stopped
trading; operations, and set about settling its debts.
2. The closing of the trading organizations in Macao was oedered by the
Peiping authorities after an investigation party, sent to Macau in
September 1951, confirmed reports that Chinese Communist purchasing
agents in liong Kong and Macao had been extremely corrupt, raising the
prices on imports and lowering the prices on exports for their personal
gaina2

the Peak Receiving Center in Macao; 30 October was a Tuesday. Para-
graph 2 explains why the an Kuang Company was acting on the resolution
before the latter had been made.
2. Comment. HO Hsien and (ZIEtN' Man are reported to have described
the cessation of Chinese Communist trading activities in Macao as a
temporary measure resulting from a current lack of foreign exchange.
