1. The new ministry building and the apartment blocks for its employees are on
both sides of the Sovietskaya (Street?), about 2 km northeast of the main
station in Minsk (53_50N, 27-35L), lthite Russian SSR, A small park is east
of the apartment block.
Construction data
2,. The corner stone for the construction of the new ministry buildin? was laid
on 9 May 1946. After the bare structure was comileted in the fall of 1947,
a theater was constructed in the north,,rn wing of the building.
3, The construction of new large apartment blocks on the site of destroyed build-
ings started in :ay 1948. The mein building of this Froiect was plastered
and occuk: led by the fall of 1949. The nei,*hboring apartment houses were
still under construction.

4. Varying between 400 and 700 P1Vs; work was done in two shifts.
Purpose of the construction
5. The building is for the Linistry of Interior of the trtiite I.ussian SST, and the
apartments for its officers and officials. "1GrB" (sic) was the widely known
abbreviation given to the project,
