10 .0n 21 July 1951s a 2uel depot was observed at Zerbst airfield just south of
the northern, field bounCary and vest of the former Zerbst?Deetz road. The
depots about 150x 220 meters., was surrounded by poles fitted with s)otlights.
A spur track from Lindau to the airfield. rrns aim!: the upc,'r
boundary of the depot. A lino led to the depot -,:hore several semi?ander :round
containers and tomporary buildings were observed. The depot wan probably a
? supply installation of the airfield. *
20 A biplane landed at the field at 6:15 p.m. on 23 July. There was no flying at
the field on the other days of observation up to 29 July. Tilree biplanes were
parked at the field. Four searchlights were continually in operation during
the night of 29 July. No vehicular traffic was observed between 23 and 29 3uly,,
According to an acquaintancc?of sources the runway was being enlarged to a total
length of about 2,900 meters and, upon its completions would reach about 200
meters from the cermunication road leading to the village of Straguth. The old
runway, which had,thickness of 30 to 50 cm, was provided with. an additional con.
crote cover of 15 cm. The runway was 60 meters wide. The target date for the
completion of the runway was said to be 15 August /951. The jet Lighter unit,
previously stationed at the fields is now at Koethen aLrfiele ands upon completion
of constructions would Leturn to v4erbst. ** About 50 airforce soldiers were
stationed at the field. ?

On 7 Auolst about 30 workers and 1 biplane were seen. TrUC1-3
left the field. A fuel dump seem21!o be located near
the spur i'.rack which lead from Deatz into the wooded area east of Nounuohle
and north of the targot ran_es of Zorbst airfield. *** Tho track had the
appearance of currently being used.

Comuent. The transfer to Koethen of the two figWar regiments
is also confirmed by reported construction.work. The ocnsruction
rork is limited to the reinforceent and repair of the .irE:ray surface,
the building or a taxiway, grading of the landing field and a short
extension of the runway. The target date for the complction of the
work has not been reported by other sources.
