THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION 1. Construction of fortifications In the Sibenik area is currently in progress. All islands in the Immediate vicinity which close in on the bay of Sibenik are being fortified either through the construction of new fortifications, or through repairs and renovation of the old existing ones. 2. Large numbers of military workers have been observed on the islands of Zirje and flrter, where approach to unauthorized civilians is reported to be strictly forbidden. Constant now shipments of construction material are transported to these islands. 3. In addition to island fortifications, various construction projects are in progress along the coast. Here new coastal artillery projects are under construction to the north and south of Sibenik. The old existing fortifications on Cape Zecevo, south of Sibenik, were reactivated in 1949. Other various military projects in this area were enlarged and modernized by the end of 1950, and since then all these projects have been manned by permanent crews. 4. The observation station on 2bvara is one of the most important of its kind in this sector. It is the min observation station here, and it maintains contact between Sibenik and Split as well as between all the other islands in the Central Adriatic Sector. The station was modernized in 1950, at which time it was supplied with new instruments. It is alleged to be equipped with a radar apparatus. Old fortifications which were once abandoned are situated an the very slopes of the I?bvara River, at the edge of the fir-wooded area facing the bay of Eogoznica.
