Army Ev La On 20 June 1951, the Soviet unit stationed in Gleiwitz (Q 51/Y 37) was not in the post. Only a guard detail had remained there. (4) The Hermann Goering Plant in Laband near Gleiwitz.was frequently inspected by a Polish military commission, which ordered the air raid shelters to be cleaned. On 22 June 1951, Polish border guard troops and a labor battalion of members of the 1929 and 1930 classes were quartered in the barracks installation on ul.Boleslawa Chrobrego in Leobschuetz (P 51/J 12). The labor battalion was engaged in the construction of emplacements and bunkers in the restricted wooded area about 3 km northwest of the post, near the Czech border. Trucks were seen hauling construction material to the mods. (5) 5. Prior to mid-June 1951, a Polish infantry regiment from Neisse (P 51/H 75) was at the Lamsdorf (P 51/H 96) troop training grounds. Units cover NO 2867/A and 7703 were identified at the troop training grounds. (6) 6. On 21 June 1951, it was learned that a school for tank officers and NCOs had been recently opened in Katowice (Q 51/H 57), 7. Prior to early 1951, a motorized KIN (Corps of Internal Security) regiment of about 1,500 troops was located in the barracks installation on the west side of ul. Koszarowa in Katowice. In addition to small arms, the regiment was equipped with light machine guns, heavy machine guns, mortars, six 45-mm guns and light armored vehicles. All weapons were of Soviet origin. The regiment had Studebaker, Dodge and US trucks. Dwelling houses for the dependents of the KBW soldiers were located east of the barracks area. A general lived in a villa on ul. Generale Zaieezka, which was guarded by sentries. According to another resettler, a barracks installation at Krietern kKrzyki), a southwestern suburb of Breslau, was occupied by Soviet troops in September 1950.
