Two small warships called "monitor boats" have been completed, and two more are now under construction.at the Braila shipyardso These vessels are 45-50 meters in length with 2.00 - 2.50 meters draft. Each ship is equipped with four guns, two fore and two aft. 2m Barracks-type ships Pre under construction at Braila and Galati. These vessels resemble bargbs, with quarters.fore ' and aft, and a sliding deck amidsbip which can be rolled back to expose the hold. wech ship is estimated to accomodate 400-600 men. Wooden sloops 20-25 meters long are now being manufactured in assembly-line fashion at the Rumnnipn shipyards in Oltenita. The local inhabitenta refer to these sloops as fishing boats. Flood waters in Cernavoda inundated various works connected with this canal,, Although most of the manpower for this project is supplied by political prisoners,. some volunteers have signed up for canal work in order to avoid compulsory military training. Rumanian Munitions Factory The Franco-Romano factory in Braila is currently engaged in manufacturing artillery shells, bullets and gunpowder. sDISTRIBUTION ~ - ARRY 6. The Rum mans are building r!-i lroad cars in Stalin (Brasov) for delivery to the USSR. These cars are equipped with adjustable axles Which permt their passage over Rumanian reilroad lines and also over the wide gauge soviet mils. Rumanian officers are forbidden to tell members of their families where they are stationed, or to mention unit locations in corrc;spondence.
