CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY
Soviet road traffic in the frontier regions included the following:
a. Dahulfa to Ordubad, and probably Baku: Eleven trucks and six jeeps carry-
ing 100 soldiers (sic); 32 trucks; two ambulances; two 75 mm guns; one
anti-aircraft machine gun.
b. Nakhichevan to Dzhulfa, and Dzhulfa to Nakhicheian: 512 trucks and about
1,000 soldiers,
c. Five truckloads of soldiers, two trucks carrying two anti-aircraft
machine guns,, and 30 soldiers on motorcycles arrived at the village
of Dasht in the Sia Rud sector, coming from Ordubad,> These troops
arrived in this area for the purpose of conducting maneuvers. This
is the first occasion on which maneuvers have been held in this area.
d. Motorcycle patrols have been added in the Sia hud areas
e. Total road traffic 'in the Lenkoran-Astara area included 310 trucks,, 214
carts, 53 jeeps, and six trucks carrying foodstuffs, construction
material, communication material, arms, ammunition, and 596 soldiers.
