a. Russian order for 200 A-1 trainers. (The order for the 200 machines was
placed on 5 September 1949; a sixteen-claA Russian coxnission headed by
a Russian colonel was still present at the factory in March 1950 making
daily modifications on the prototypes 'which were being Produced)-
Sample instruments and apparatus for exhibition at the Leipzig Fair.
(The development of these now apparatus was essential because the existing
lines of the factory were obsolescent).
11. It was decided in March 1950 that a capital expenditure of 80,000 DM was
essential to put the refrigerating plant in the South Factory (Werk Sid) in
working condition. This was to be used to test special instruments at a
temperature of -- 600C for the Soviet authorities,
12. The factory encountered serious financial difficulties during the first half
or 19r%4s mainly because of the reduction of sales, resulting from the difficulty
of obtaining raw materials, and to the work on the A-1 training devices, which
brought In no income, During July 1950, various creditors refused to mare
delivery of further raw materials until outstanding payments in for deliveries
had been made.

issued an order authorizing additional credits of 1;0,000,000 J.I to cover the
debts of the factorya

The production of epidiascopes has been stopped because there
is no.sheot metal available. One hundred orders are held up. The production
of mw-ion picture machines has also come to a standstill, because of the
shortage of cutting steel and sheet metal. 50X1-HUM
Zeiss is now using and finding satisfactory Decelith spools for 16 mm film.
