1. The Calarasi airfield is located on the north northeast edge of tho:, town
of Calaresio The field lies one and one-half kilometers north-northeast
from the Cnlarasi railroad station. This field is of stamped earth and
there are no runways. there are only seven
to eight aircraft on 1 ; zese are o the single motor type and
25X1X painted grey and green. There are no hangars and the field has a few
Rumanian Army guards. There seems to be a workshop at the northern
.end of the field.
2. The following Rumanian Regiments are in Calarasi:
a. 23 Infantry Regiment ? located northeast of Cal,arasi in the Nagureni
areao
b. 20 Artillery Regiment - located near the South railroad station in
C alara si .
c. 5 Cavalry Regiment - located north of the road between Calarasi and
Mircea.Voda.
3. The airfield at Cobadin which was constructed by the Germans during the
last war and abandoned by the Rumanians, is now being repaired under
Soviet technical help. The field is surrounded by forests and located
between Cobadin and Ciocarlia Dc Sue, and near a forest about one and
one-half kilometers from Cobadin on the right hand side of the road
connecting the two towns. The field has no hangars. It is presently
being levelled.
4. At Galati, there is a civil-n:d-li.tary airfield located to the west of
Bulevard Take Ionescu, near cemetery. It is two kilometers south of a
railroad tunnel,. The field is about three kilometers by two kilometers
in size and has no runways. The entire field is of stamped earth. There
are approximately 20 Soviet aircraft of the single and bi motor types.
There are three Rumanian aircraft of unknown type as well. A sketch,, which
is self explanatory, is attached.

Two kilometers west of Gera Barbosi (a railroad station), southwest of
Galati (near Mogrileni ), to the south of the highway nearby., one informant
heard that the Soviets had reactivated the old German airfield. There
are no hangars.
