REPORT NO. 25X1X 1,, The Kuomintang (KT:?T) Sumatra Eat Coast will, in the near future, send a letter to Taiwan urging the Chinese Nationalist Government to take steps to protect the Sumatra Chinese who do not want to declare Indonesian citizenship and do not want to register with the Chinese Communist Consulate in Medan.1 Soiree predicts this letter will recommertithat the Chinese Nationalist Govevnment arrange to empower the Philippine representative in Djakerta to register Nationalist Chinese in Indonesia, or issue Nationalist China citizenship documentation. 2. There are recent indications that the Indonesian Government has taken a more sympathetic attitude toward the right-wing Chinese and an increasingly anti-Chinese Communist attitude. The Indonesian Government, working through two or three English speaking senior Minas Pengawasan Keselamatan Negara (DPKN) (Burea%L for Supervision of State Security) (formerly PAM) officers in Medan, has been secretly encouraging right-wing Chinese leaders and has asked them to give the DPKN information on Chinese Communist activity in North Sumatra. 1 Comment. According to an Indonesian broadcast of 10 July 1951, ese nationals having Dutch citizenship rights who do not reject Indonesian citizenship automatically become Indonesian citizens by 27 Decem- ber 1951. Chinese nationals not having Dutch citizenship right and now enjoying the status of foreigners, namely nom-Indonesian citizens, will become stateless if they refuse to recognize the Chinese People's Republic, 6601 ---------- Mont tlo. , --- No Change In Gla~sl _._... _ - :find Iris Ty ^tass, changed To.
