1. During ltay, work was completed on the extention of landing stripe at Xian,gwan
Airfield, ahandhai. There are five radar stations near the field.
In early June apnroximate]y 650 civilian laborers were working on the construc-
tion of 80 rp at this field. under the supervision of Soviet adviser X'ai-
t'e-mo-~fla {~ ~~~ (? Gatomov). Large quantities of gravel, cenent, and
steel beams are being, used in the construction of these hangars, which are
scheduled for completion by late July. Approximately 40 planes are landing at
this field daily.

3. In early June 49 aircraft arrived at Te angshan .,I ) Airfield,l in the
Tstngtao area. Also at this field are 27 Japanese Zeroes. Training flights
are flown &nily frori this field.
4. Among the pilots at Te'angshan Airfield are 52 Chinese natives of P`anchuria.
Approximately 60 Soviet advisers nt this field recently arrived t Tsingtao.
They are billeted in the foreign-style houses on Chink'oushan (41
r.- 11-1 ),
Bund Gardens, Tsingtao. This area is patrolled nightly by plainclothes
menbers of the Teingtao police force. These Soviet advisers are not permitted
to enter or leave the city after midnight.
On 18 June 300 boxes of aviation equipment arrived at Canton by train from
Xan1 w. It is to be distributed to White Cloud Airfield and to airfields at
Swatov, Chanchiang, 'isiving (110-a24, 21-11), and, Santsao.
6. On 18 June approximately 200 technicians arrived at Canton by train from !ankow
to work at White Cloud and T'ienho Airfields.
7. On IS June 18 Japanese Zero's were flown to bases in the Canton area.

In mid-June 24 Soviet-made anti-aircraft guns, which arrived at Canton by train
from I ant w in late Pay, were distributed as follows: 8 at Tannn,g Airfield,
6 at Sanya Airfield, 6 at White Cloud and Vienho Airfields, ? at Whampoa, and
2 in the Shihiung (135-51, 23-07) area.
9. In mid-June a Joint Stns-Soviet air defense observation post was beta, operated
on -%iyangtao (123-11. 39-04), 60 miles east of Dairen. At the post ar.` 10
Soviet troops whose sole mission is to observe United Nations naval and r4r
movements.
10. On 24 June 7 fuselages and 40 boxes of airplane parts arrived at Canton by
train from Unkow.
11. On 25 June-2,500 tons of ammunition and explosives for the South China Air
Force Command, including rockets and rifle cartridges, arrived in the Canton
area from Tientsin and was immediately sent to White Cloud Airfield for
storage in that area.
12. In late June the main supply depots for the Central and South China Air Force
3eadquarters had been established and were functioning at Ifanhsien (114-54,
25-52), Kueilin, and '_4en,gyang. In early July a branch supply depot of this
headquarters was established. and functioning at Canton. Another branch
supply depot at Sanya (109-30, 18-16) and a repair shop at Canton are to be
set up and operating by late August.
