1. Designationslof various armies, includin ; the 38 39, 40 and 42 Armies,
of the 12 and 13 Array Groups are now in thee Central and South China Tii.lita~ry
Area (CSCIJA). This does sot mean that these'units have moved bark from
Korea. Casualties of the armies engaged in the Korean fighting are heavy,
but,, apart from some wounded, the remaining officers and man are still in
Nor`bh. Korea, and Manchuria.
Only a few armies of` those army groups harre yet sent their coed. headquarters,
political department and supply personnel back to CSC.:.IA to recruit replace ent~s
for these designations. Ton thousand military district and public
security troops from IIunan and Kwaagtung have been assigned to the 40 and

Other tharn those of the 12 and 13 Armor Groups, no oomplcte army fro?a the
4 Field Army ryas sent to churia and Korea. Elements of the other
armies, including base headquarters which maintained the unit designation.,
wore kept at their original stations in the CSCI .
