SUBJECT The Lucko Airfield and Plan for its Defense
Against Air or Ground Attack

ACQUIRED
Yugoslav Air Force units which are currently stationed at the Lucko airfield
are the 96 Air Assault Regiment (IL .2 planes), the 138 Air Pursuit Regiment
(IL-2 planes), and the 200 Air Technical Battalion (VTB).

1. The ; u o airfield is located approximately eighte kilometers southeast of
Zagreb, between the villages of Jesdovec and Keaestinac. It derives its name
from the village of Lucko, which is situated somewhat further from the air-
field than the other two villages, but w hich is better known. The airfield
is surrounded by a wire fence.
2. Flight conditions during favorable weather are extremely good. Spring rains,
on the other hand, will flood the southern end of the field. The Zumberackxa
Mountains are located at a sufficient distance to allow the planes to climb
to a height of 800 motors before trey are reached. The field does not have
a runway,, but the ground surface is hard and firm.

4. Prospective plans have been drawn for the defense of the Lucko airfield against
air and ground attack. The parallel curved lines on the attached sketch
(att.ecbauent 1) designate the defense positions to be occupied by each individual
unit stationed at the airfield.
