1. As of 29 April approximately 220, 00 crack combat troops of the 4 Field Army
had boon killed or wounded in Korea. and LIN Kee was still recuperating
from wounds received in February at Sinuiju.'
2, Of aplproximately 300,000 men of the 3 Field Army, approximately 120,000 have
been killed or wounded. These were replaced by an equal number of troops from
the 19 Army Group. 50X1-HUM
the Chinese Communists sent 701,200 combat troops into Korea, 50X1-HUM
exclusive of an undetermined nudber of support troops. Total Chinese 50X1-HUM
Communist casualties in Korea have been 420,178, including 238,535 killed
in action or dead from wounds reoeiv action, 07,212 wounded and 1140431 50X1
(sic) captured or missing in action 1 50X1-HUIV
4. During April the 49 and 50 Divisions of the Chinese Communist 17 Army and 50X1-HUM
the 52 Division of the 18 Army were at 'Chen (128-53, 38-30).

the 89 and DO Divisions of the Chinese Communist 30 Army were 50X1-HUM
in Korea. The 88 Division was recentlyFlreorganized into a marine division.50X1 -HUM
CHOU Han-chung ( i 4 ), comiander of the SO Army, was recently
transferred to Naval Teneral headquarters to become its chief of staff.3

railway repair unit which was divided into 22 groups to maintain Clo berth
Korean railways, approximately 3,900 have been lost. It is very difficult
to find replacements for these railway workers.

border area to replace horses being used b: the Chinese Communist cavalry.
Part of the horses were from a forced purchase of 3,000 horses in TsinzPai
during the winter of 1950 by the rorthvest Skin and Fur Company. :jest of
