On 31 March 1951, the barracks installation in Bad Freienwalde (N 53/V 28) was occupied to capacity by troops who wore red-bordered black epaulets. About 250 recruits, who were from 10 to 20 years of age and wore red bordered black epaulets, were seen marching from the railroad station to the barracks installation on Z'3 :larch. Vehicles seen in the billeting area included 6 caterpillar tractors, 8 model BA-64 armored reconnaissance cars, and about 50 motorcycles, 20 of which had sidecars. About 40 trucks were 50X1 -HUM in three wooden garages located west of the installation on the opposite side of the strf:et. A fuel dump was located north of the wooden garages. Truck arrived there on 27 7arch, coming from the railroad station, with a load 50X1 -HUM of fuel drums. ?
