Prior to Larch 1951, the lionspolizei Dionststelle (VPD) in Dessau-Kochstedt was located in tl-:e former Artillerie Kaserne in Kochstedt. Still below LAuthorized strength; the VPD numbered 1,300 to 10500 police and was organized into a headquarters, folx infantry Kommandos, and seven Sonderabteilungen. * 50X1-HUM 2. The officers of tile VPD included V? Kommandeur Erich Fiedler, school commandant; VP Oborrat Tittel, (fnu), chief of staff; VP Kommandeur :3urghardt, (Thu), PK , officer; VP :onnandeur amemr, (fnu), director of training; VP Oberrat Gaertner, (fnu), operations officer; and VP Oberrat V;Ullnann, (fnu)1 commandin: officer of 1st Kommando. 3. Each Kommando was equipped nith 3 or 4 light mortars, 8 model 34 light machine guns, 20 Soviet submachine Guns, 30 to 40 model 44 submachine Guns, and one carbine for each police man. The Sonderabteilungen had one T-34 tank, 3 or 4 guns of undetermined caliber, several heavy mortars, and several light Pr guns. The destroyed buildings in the VPD billeting area wore being reconstructed. Comment.
