All troops in the Luftnachriehten Kaserne, Bernau (N 53/2; 96),
assembled in the yard for a ceremony on 23 February 1951. 'Four?
teen units of 93 to 100 soldiers each, with a color guard in
front of each unit, were observedibesides a military band.
The tromps wore addressed by an offir,,r. Ebtmr
wore observed in the installetion. Fourteen artillery pieces wore
still parked in the billetini! area.

2. The houses in the restricted area on Karl Larxstrasse quartered Soviet
families rather than a military headquarters. Motor vehicles observed
there
3. On 23 and 24 February, the Luftnachrichten Kaserne still quartered
troops who wore red-bordered black epaulets, including some with ar-
tillery and tank insignia. One lieutenant colonel, three captains
and several lieutenants were observed to wear tank insignia. Motor
vehicles observed in the Lilleting area on 23 February included two
model BA-64 armored reconnaissance cars; 10 trucks in a garage: about
15 trucks

and five trailers between two garages; 20 to 25 trucks,
in another garage; and 30 to 50 more trucks die-
persed over the billeting area.

Sixteen 76.2-ma AT guns
and five one-axle, rubber-tired ammunition trailers stood beside the
garages.
