ENCLOSURES (NO. & TYPE)
1 _ 'roman employee of the Bauun.ion- ^outh rirn -"ho worked on estimates
for the Improvement of `'e.,rseburg (11 52/) 91) airfield said in early
February 1951 that a conference ."as held, about t-,*o "oeks a,?o,
bet*^een the 13auunian irm, the police, the traffic adninietra..
tion, and the aohkopau ('" 52/D 91) Bunn ?._orks. 7)i?ring this
conference it 'ias agreed that lack of mace precluded an ex-
tension of the field to the north. To accomplish their objec-
tive it i,ould be necessary to rebuild '.'...auch_staedterstarse to
the north,, ' o'7ever, this ??ould reruire in turn the renoval
soutfiards of the fluna '..orks sludge dung -hieh no-, exte' ds from
'73chkopau to the "erseburg-Lauohstaodt (?? 52/7) 81) railroad line.
Before the sludge projeet could be initiated, the railroad line
,;,ould have to be moved farther south. These successive -loves
would eliminate necessary space for the Tarchstaedterstrasse
detour. The boundaries of the airfield 'ere finally deternined. *
