1., Chinese Communist military authorities at 7+, nchain sha (,% ~R ~1`) ~, Tun;;tuan
(1134.j6, 23-02) Hsicn in late Januryy- o;-de-red all womens associations to
urge their husbands and sons between 18 and 28 years of age to join the army
as volunteers for Korea.. L ach volunteer is to receive the title of hero and
a souvenir photograph of his family.
2. The authorities of Tungkuan and Chhun;shan (113-36, 22-22) Hsien vaere impressing
labor for military construction in late January, Villa:-,,e heads and farmers
associations ware o~?derad to conscript one 'person from each house to dig
trenches alon.t the sea coast and rivers. For each of the laborers t:'iere must
be furnished three catties of rice daily for food,, and the laborers receive
no 'D ey.
3. On 18 Janunry orer 100 inmates of the jail at iisLnhsing (112-12,, 22a48)p
mostly former Nationalist local soldiers, revolted because of bad treatment
and lcil =ed five wardens. About 20 inmates were killed trying to escaped but
the rest got ataxy.
On 18 January Chungshsn Hsien authorities demanded of the Macao Government
that all Hational.i-t o:'_'icial,s be driven from L?acao that Communist, soldiers
be permitted to enter :1acao to arrest Nationalist and guerrilla suspects,, and
that there be established an of,-ice of the Chungahan ?.:ilitat?y Affairs Conriittee
