fetweon 18 and. 23 October 1950, 40 recruits were seen undergoing basic infantry
drill in the yard of the Delius Kaserne in Potsdam, vJhile older soldiers cleaned
ind overhauled guns, motor vehicles, and other equipment. On 18 October, 21
of?icer=f, including six former sergeants who had just been promoted to the rank
of junior lieutenant, left the installation with suitcases and boxes, riding
trucks toward Doebori.tz. The manner in which these
officers said farewell gave source the impression that they were not going to
return.
2, on 19 October at about 9 a.m. trucks 1 -1 tow-
ing four gun barrel carriers with new barrels, entered the Dolius Kas erne. The

3. On 21 October, the ammunition dump on Bornetecitorfeld, which belonged to the
artillery unit in the Delius Kaserne, was enlarged by about 30 motors on all
sides. Two Gorman electricians who started installing lighting facilities there
Were dismissed on 23 October and their work was completed by Soviet soldiers.
4. On 26 October, ten officers and 140 liM left the Delius Kaserne, allegedly going;
to Schdt on the Oder River for reassigrm?ent to a newly activated unit. A
column of twenty-eight 122-mm guns and four 172-mm guns left the billeting area
for 7i1dpark on 27 and 28 October 1950. (2)
