THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. In order to strengthen Kwangtung defenses,* Comnunist military authorities
are speeding the constructIon of machine gun, anti-aircraft, and-artillery
emplacements and are installinn a radar station at ChIlihhsingkang (t 4.g4 ) A
in the suburbs of Canton. In addition they have taken the following steps:
a. Recalled to Mappoa the 11 Corcany0 Chinese Communist marines, stationed
in the ranshanuoi (113- 0 21, ) and Tungao (113-140 22-10) arca, Garrison
duties in the Nanshanuei-Tungao area have been ta7:en by two batteries of
the 27 Army and one battalion of the 2 Replacement Division,?
b.

Rebuilt three underground depots at Nanshanuei for the storage of gasoline
and naval sunplies.
Installed 16 neu field nieces, 62 x 4-inch guns, tam Soviet-made anti-
aircraft guns, t$Jo anti-aircraft machine guns, and a radar station in
the Nanshanwei area.**
d. Mounted four 105 mm guns in the Tankanshan (114-160 22-02) ?area?

e. Placed two 3.5 bazookas, three anti-aircraft machine guns, and four
flaw throwers in forts in the Nantou (113-56, 22-31) -Chukfou at a ':
area.

Islands area.

2. The dispeadtinaof Communist units on the Macao border is as follows:
a. One regiment and one battalion are in the nalshonchion (113-34, 22-18)
area.
.b. One regiment and one field artillery battalion are in usiangchou
(113-320 22-14). The troops are repairing defense =AB near the
Macao border.
