1. For some tiro it has boon planned to enlarge and reconstruct the main north-
south road in Burgenland, which runs from Parndorf-Join-Eisenstadt- httersburg-
Siogg ,bon -Oberpullondorf--Loclen haus-Bad : cm anr:sdorf-OberiS Ztegersbach-
t. Iiichael--T schantschondorf to Gttssing.
2. Pre lininaryy work. has already boon done on some stretches such as in the
vicinity of Bad Tatsnannsdorf where three bridges have been repaired and
`brought up to a load capacity of 60 tons each. Hoc-rover, for financial reasons
and because of other, priority coranitraents, it had appeared before September 1950
that the l3urgonland provincial authorities would not complete the work for a
number of rears.
3~ During September 1950 a commission of fuw^ian officers visited the Durgenland
provinical authorities and notified theta that the rorsainin road work should
be bog= as soon as possible. It was sug; sted by the Russians that the
foundations and a macadam surfaco could be finished by mid-1951, thus making
the road usable at that time. The final surfacing of the road,, to be done
partly in concrete and partly in bitumen and tar, should be finished by August
or September 1952.
4. The road is to have a uniform width of nine motors with a verge of one meter
on each side. All bridges along this route will have a n nimun load capacity'
of 60 tons The maximum gradients will be s1z per cent
