to In Macao, was a Communist-sponsored holiday for labor
and business organizations and schools, and arches were constructed in the
streets. However, in assembly halls and streets, anti--Communists changed
the date to read "10 October", and put up posters inscribed. "Down with
MAO Tee-tunga"
20 The Governor of Macao refused several invitations from Communist leaders
to attend the Assembly, basing his refusal on the grounds that there
are no diplomatic relations between Portugal and the Chinese Communist
Government. Furthermore, Macao authorities forbade the raising of the
Soviet flag, Mich was coiled for in original Communist celebration plans.
A five-star flag displayed on a truck driven by Communists was torn off
by Portuguese soldiers.
3. On the night of 2 October, a special meeting was called by the Communists
to discuss a protest to the Macao Goverment; althou i heated discussion
took place, no action was decided upon.
