However, in assembly halls and streets, anti--Communists changed the date to read "10 October", and put up posters inscribed. "Down with MAO Tee-tunga" 20 The Governor of Macao refused several invitations from Communist leaders to attend the Assembly, basing his refusal on the grounds that there are no diplomatic relations between Portugal and the Chinese Communist Government. Furthermore, Macao authorities forbade the raising of the Soviet flag, Mich was coiled for in original Communist celebration plans. A five-star flag displayed on a truck driven by Communists was torn off by Portuguese soldiers. 3. On the night of 2 October, a special meeting was called by the Communists to discuss a protest to the Macao Goverment; althou i heated discussion took place, no action was decided upon.
