1. Dr. Alfred Hutschenecker, Austrian Director of the Central Commercial
Bureau of USIA, has ordered the Bureau's commercial agents to purchase
at any price all zinc and lead now available on the Vienna market
2. During the past week, the Commercial Bureau acquired a total of twenty-
seven tons of zinc and five tons of lead in small lots from a variety of
Austrian sources. The purchase price of the metals is not known. These
metals are now stored in Enzesfeld awaiting shipment to the USSR.
