1. A deal was concluded by the Deutsche Edelstahlwerke A.G., Krefeld, involving
the sale b the Purchasing Commission of the DMA (Deutscher Aussenhandei),
Berlin, of 300 tons of tubes of special steel from which bail bearings are
cast. The price is to be 500 DIM (sic, presurnab],y'Jest). The steel is to
be delivered to the Russian Zone in )`November 1950.
onnnts Tubes of such steel are considered highly'-strategic material.
It can, therefore, be assumed that the firm, when aprlying for export licenses,

Coriment: The Deutsche Ldelstahlwerke A.G. in Krefeld, vrith branches
25X1 A in Boehm, Dortmund, Renscheid, and "erdohl, has been mentioned as supplier
of highly-strategic steel previously. reported on the sale of ball-
bearing steel by the Bochum branch of tho above firm to associate fime of the
25X1 A DRAG (Russian Zone). the Edelstahluerko and two other firms
as sellers of 300 tons of high-speed cutting oteel to the Poldihtitte in Prague.
25X1A Isrania A.G. in Zurich was negotiating with the Ddelstahliierke
on the purchase of 500 tons of special steel and alloys, probably on behalf of
the Russians.
