Next Revfow Date: 2008 Soviet Zone Rail.roadag it was learned that the er of the destroyed railroad bridge across the Peene River near Earnin (N 54,1 L Co) is being di tied for use as scrap. The two single-track steel truss bridges - 4 spans each ? have an estimated. weight of 2,200 tons. The bridge is on what was f ly the double-trams Tacherov N 5 99) - Xarnin - S nemtnende (N 54/L 21) railroad 3.1ne9 which wad t di tied, See Annex for sketch pinpointing location of bridge. It established the connection to the Xs1e of Uaedc and was used chiefly as a feeder line for the seaside health resorts located on the isles in addition to supplying the former naval station in Spin e. The bridge was blasted at the end of the war. The di tling of the bridge shows that the reconstruction of this formerly. important rail-road line is apparently not intended in the foreseeable future. The still existing railroad convection to the Isle of Upedom Is being maintained by ferrying operations via Wolgast. a Dismantling of the Railroad Bridge Across the Peene River Near Karnin CnO /OO NTROL/US OnfttIALS o !LY CO I I L 25X1A 1L Approved, For Release 2001/03/05: CIA-RDP82-00457R006100020011-4 l
