1. Between mid-July and late August 1950, 180 trainloads of LIN Piao's troops,
equipment and supplies were sent north from Kvrangtung and Kwangsi. Of these,
there were 14 trainloads of artillery troops and equipment and 22 trainloads
of cavalry and equipment; the rest were infantry.'
2. A small part of these tro3ps 5re stationed at Chinhuangtao and Yingkou. The
main body of the 4O, 1.i5, 46 and 4$ Armies are in the Mukden area along
the Antung-Chian highway.4 In late Au ust, 300,000 troops of the 4 Field
Army were still in the outskirts of Iiankow awaiting orders.
3. The 41 Army,S which has turned to L!anchuria from auchang and, Ilankovr, to#~als
90,000 men. The 42 Arr:UP totals 130,000 men and the 4O Ar 8,000 (sic).-((
Only a few troops are stationed along the Yalu River; the remainder are on the
coast and in the countryside farming, but they can be assembled easily.
