a recent conference hold at the i f,office in the Soviet ''one
Ministry of the Interior in P?rlin, that the Volkspolizei would be
converted into a Volkshaor (People's Army) after 15 October 1950,
following the general elections0 It was emphasized that this in-
formation eras confidentialo
'omYnent? For all _aractical purposes the Boreitschafts_iolizei is
a am and will probably be further increased in the fall
of 1950. It is doubted that the organization will be designated Volks-
heer in the near future because this would be too obvious a flouting
of the :'otsdam resolutions
