Despite the acc'leerated efforts during August 1950 of the Junta "I'acional de Partidarios de Is Paz, the Tlruguaygn Communist "peace" organization, there has been a noticeable l.essering of enthusiasm in the orpa izationes activities. Although Jose Luis Massera, Secretary-General of t getup, publicly announced that his organization had collected 75,On' signatures for the Stockholm Peace 'ledge as of 23 1ugust, conservative estimates derived from the orpa,nization0s confidential fit-6, indicate that only anoroxi. tely 25,000 signatures have been obtained. 2. As a result of the lack of enthusiasm on the part of the Uruguai ?ans to sign the "peace" pledge, the Junta is now olanninr to concentrate its: forces on securi? ' support for the Co--unist-sponsored nlan of nrever_V,'if any Uruf*uayart aid or assistance to the Inited `-Nations" forces in 'Cor?ea. To imnl.ement the orf?aniza.tion's campaign against Tlruguayan aid in the Korean Iar, the following measures were outlined on 26 August by the Junta and are now in the process of being carried to comple',ions a.
