1. On 4 August 1950 L&I Chtuar-chu W, 414 ij, accompanied by Soviet adviser
ate-ho-son (? Badaldiov), arrived in Canton from Hankow.* LA,I will replace
TENG Rua as Canton garrison commander and assume command of the remainder of
the 15 Arm Group.**
2. On 5 August a regiment of the 157 Division, stationed atTueh Hstu (''.r- )
Road North, Esiao Pei (-J,it ), Canton, was completely equipped with US-made
arms, including 8 rocket launchers, 8 x fit mm mortars and 30 z 60 mm mortars.

3. On 5 August the Canton Air Defense Command placed four anti-aircraft guns
near Lingnan University, Rongloh Village, Honam Islands Canton.
4. On 15 August three Public Security Divisions were stationed in Canton and
its suburbs; one was assi, ed to guard various warehouses and government
agencies and two were dispersed in the northeastern suburbs.
5. From 1 to 4 August between 10 and 30 freight cars loaded with tires, gasoline
and supplies of the 15 Array Group left Canton daily for the north. On 4
August part of the 15 Arrr Group Headquarters at Rein Ho (r? ), Tangshan
(11234, 22-07), left for the north.
6. On 5 August 400 pieces of machinery stripped from government and -private
factories and 70 cases of ammunition (7e5 and. 6.5 inch) for the 4 Field
Arrgy were shipped from Canton to Hankow.***
