In early August 1950 the Chinese Communists decided to close the Kowloon Customs Office arid the two warehouses at the terminus of the Canton-Kowloon Railroad before the end of August 1950. The Customs branches at Yaumati and Sai Yiag Pun were also to be closed. All Customs personnel were to be transferred to Shenchluan (114-08, 2232) and nearby ilea Chin ( 4p and Tu Pion Chi.ag 1 2. According to a rumor current in Hong r.ong, this move is a possible prelude to an armed invasion of Hong gong by the Cr-inose Communists.
