1. It was lerrned in oarly June 1950 that Lt,-Its of tree Graz poli::ei and
Bereitsc.iaftspolizei of #hurinvia were: quartered in billeting area III
of the eimir i'annenber` Kaserne. billeting ares III consisted of four
large barracks buildiuuE_s, one conibiuiation kitchen and mesa and several
garag=e s .
2. The Grenzpolizei unit in the installation was described ;is an administra-
tive office with a personnel of 50 to 80. 'fue Boreitsc iaftspolizei unit
had a strength of about one battalion.
3. Four VP urtits of about 50 ::,en each returned to tree billeting area the
afternoon of 6 June 1950.. The units came from field trainin ; and the
men wore armed ~ itri carbines. *
25X1A * ~Cas::.ertt. The entire headquarters of the Chief of urempolizei or
Thuringia is believed to be at the Tannenberg Kaserne, The adjoining
Luetzendorf Kaserne w:.s reported by three sources to be occupied by
Bereitschaftspol .:.ei units, allegedly the 2d VP Bcreitschaft.. one
Kommando of the 2d Bereitsehaft, which is believed to be in Lan ensasl.za,
may be stationed in ".eimsr.
