About 5 August units of the 4 Field Army which l .d left Canton for the north were still at Hankmw and Chuchou (113-06, 27-53) awaiting further orders. 2. Y''H Fei, Comr^anMler of the 10 Army Group, went to Shkanchai on 12 July 1950 for conferences and returned to Foochow on 24 July. Early In August Y'?H is scheduled to go from Foochow to Amoy to direct military operations. 3. As nrenara.tion for the invasion of Chinrnen about 15 Aus^;ust, Communist trooros in Amoy sent agents in early August to Chinmen to collect military intelli- gence and, =rhr-n the invasion starts, to cut military telephone lines. 4. In late July and early August Communists In Amoy were making an inspection of all Amoy residents. Identification cards of all Amoy citizens were stamped "Chan Chun ldh Yung" (- +' /-%j. /,# I-) (f--r temporary use). Authorities stage surprise raids on the streets to inspect identification cards amt search pedestrians. 5- As of 5 Au,^;ust the Amoy Garrison Headquarters had established joint military and police inspection stations at Sha Pao Wei ft--j), outside Amoy Harbor. The Amoy Police Bureau are to inspect all ships entering or leaving the harbor.
