1. After publication in the 20 April 1950 issue
of the Tae --fiche Rundschau of the article
"Dulo lists o t He Atom oii " in which Upton
Sinclair was accused of defending atomic
waj? ?;alte x . the Culture Department of the SMA
has directed the Dietz Publishing Firm in the
Soviet Sector of Berlin to discontinue printing
books by Sinclair. The article in the Taaegliche
Rundschau which was signed P.A. was publl-sHe-ff
after prolonged ner;otiations between A.V. Kir-
sanov, editor in chief of the paper and the
Culture Department of the S'IP
2 a It is expected that a confidential directive
will soon to be sent to all booksellers in
the Soviet Zone of Gernany, Including the
Soviet Sector of Berlin, forbidding them to
sell or lend out any books by Sinclair. 'ore-
over, a lecture is planned in the House of
Soviet Culture in which the American writer
is to be depicted as a paid agent of American
imperialism.
