(LISTED BELOW) SUPPLEMENT 25X1 REPORT NO. 2t3 JUL 50 THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION The Uargecany- (R49/El()).'Kysak 0,49A.25).-Kosice railroad is being double- tracked.* The cork is being carried out with mazimum speed and it is expected that the line will he finished during 1950 2, The new line near Banska St.tavnioa ("9/C53) has settled as a result of poor constructions. This line was laid by the Czech Youth Movement,, Construction on engine and -'iring sheds (sic) for 250 locomotives and repair shops at Prague-Vreovice will be started in mid 950 4. Two types of adjustable gauge locomotives are at present. in use in Czecho- slovakia. These, are the Skoda 498 and the ISolben 1475. 5. The following traffic was reported at Cernou pad. Copra railroad station in April 1950.-* An average of throe trains per week bound for the USSR. Each train consists of 45 cars Barr g Pragaa R.N. trucks, b.. Fifty trains per week bound for the USSR carrying rails and pipes? c. Two to three trains per week bound for the US ft carrying leather and textile.. Axles are believed to operate on a sort of sleeve aysten. The axles are held In place by wedges which can be removed when chancing from normal to broad gauge. b1ith the wedges removed the locomotive is run slowly over a conversion line allowing the axles to expand until they reach their final position for the new gauge.
