1. is of 2 July, the 2 Division of the North Korean People's may was composed
of the 4, 6 and 17 Regiments. The Division had a T~ strength of about
15,000 raen, but had lost about 5,000 men since the invasion began. The com-
manding officer of the 2 Division is i-::ajor General YI Chung-song; the corn-
manding officer of the Division infantry is Senior Colonel AU Ping; and com-
manding officer of supply is CHUB Bong-chol.
2. The 76-nr. artillery battery, commanded by YI Song-hum, had a T/O strength
of 83 men, and on 2 July contained 60 rnen, It is equipped with the following:
4 76--mi. field artillery pieces, each piece drawn by four horses; 27 automatic
rifles of Soviet make, each firing 32 rounds; and 27 single shot repeater bolt
action cavalry rifles. The battery has a telephone for observation contact.
One platoon of 76 mm. artillery was composed of 20 raen with 2 76-am. field guns.
3. On 2 July, the 76-urn. artillery battalion of the 6 Regiment was in support of
the 6 Infantry Regiment which was ordered to hold the Inchon area. The 4 and
7 Regiments were on the right flank of the 6 Regiment.
4,, On 1 July the strength of the 8 Regiment was about 900 men, about 400 men
having been lost in battle since the beginning of hostilities. The supply
problem of the 3 Division was acute, caused by the destruction of the Han
liver bridges by retreating South Korean troops,
5. Two Soviet officers are attached as advisors to the 8 Regiment. Both are
captains, one wearing yellow epaulets with red borders, the other yellow
epaulets with a vertical stripe and three stars.
