other countries. Many feel that private enterprise in China is done for

German residents of North China have heard that the Chinese Communist govern-
rant will soon receive an ambassador from the East German Republic, after
which all. Germans will be required to take out East German passports. They

30 June 194x1. and valid till 30 June 1946k, and Provisional Certificate NO.
2433, issued by the British occupation authorities in Gerr ,ny on 13 August
1949 and visaed by a French consulate
5? A German resident in Macao who was expelled by the authorities there was
Harald Steinlecher, formerly of the Ostasiatischer Lloyd in Shanghai. He
lost his postwar position in Shanghai because of his Nazi connections a_?ad
in late 1948 was expelled from Macao because the police learned of his
attempts, to procure arms for the Chinese Communists? He Is now working
with a Swiss import firm in Bangkok.
