1. Pakistan is interested in learning the nature and volume of caravan trade
between Sinkiang and the Gilgit Agency. An official was sent to the
Gilgit Agency two months ago to determine sites for customs stations. No
25X1X tariffs are charged at present.*
2. A few months ago, the Chinese Communists stopped all trade through the
Mintaka Pass to Pakistan, but opened the trade route through Leh in Indian-
held Kashmir.**
