Sidik Djojoeukarto, chairman of the governing council of the Partai Nasional
Indonesia (PNI), discussed with Sukarno Sjahrirts recent attack on the PNI
accusing it of being extremist and of aiding the Partal Koinunis Indonesia
(PKI). Sidik told Sukarno that no matter what type of cabinet succeeds
the present one,the PNI will not cooperate with the Partai Sosialis Indo-
nesia (PSI) because of Sjahrir'a acousations.

On 1 Juno in Indonesia new bank notes in denominations of five and tan
guilders were placed in circulztion. The >tepublik Indonesia Serikat (RIS)
Minister of Finance, Sjafruddin Prawiranegara, stntes that the total cur-
rency in circulation is not being increased b.oause these notes will only
be used to replace old ones. The amount of the new notes is reported to
be 230,000,000 guilders.
2. The buying price of gold per gram (24 carat) in Djakarta as of 2 June was
46 guilders.
