Republik Indonesia Serikat (IRIS) still do not fully trust Kawri.larang and
insisted that Lt. Col. Suhflrto be appointed his Chief of Staff0
30 Lt. Col, Kawileranng was succeeded as Territorial Comirandent for East
Sumatra by Lt. Col. M. Simbolon, a Batak officer., Simbolon received his
rnilitamry training from the Japanese during the occupation and at that time
bocane a battalion commander. Until the and of 1949 he was Territorial
Commmandant for South Sumatra. Early in 1950 he was attached to the General
Staff of the 1'.gkatan Perang Republik Indonesia Ucriket (?APRIS) in Djakarta
as Actin; Deputy Chief of Staff.
40 Lt0 Col. Rudy Pringadi, a Javanese, formerly Chief of Staff to the Military
Governor of Surakarte at Solo, is now Chief of Staff to the Military Govor.
