On 24 .arch 1950 a battalion of the Chinese Communist iwangtung-twangs-i Colu a, about 150 men, reached Chien Shan. (113-32, 22t-?14), north of i:tacao, carrying two long-range field Lures. The field pieces were mounted on a fort at the foot of Iei Ling pointing directly at ::cacao. A reinforced platoon of the Awangtung. kwangsi Column was placed there to guard the place, and in early April passage near this installation was strictly forbidden. 2.
