THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. Emil Bodnaras, :Minis x.er of National Defense, was absent frorr- the ".Tini. try
for twenty-five days beginning in early February, 1950. All paper3 of
the Ministry were signed by the Acting Minister, General Petre Borila,
V=ice Minister of National Defense.
2. Daring this time Bodnaras did not appear at any celebrations or meetings.
At the Ministry all inquiries were met with the statement that he was
away on an inspection trip.
Seventeen high-ranking officers of the Ministry of National Defese were
absent at the same time as Bochnaras. Some officials of that Ministry
believe that Bodnaras and these officers went to Moscow. The purpose
of such a trip, if it took place, is not known.
