1. The Ailitia guard of eighty-eight men foraerly stationed at the Bucharest
home of Emil Bodnirap, Minister of the Armed Forces, has been reduced
to one, possibly indicating that the house is presently not occupied.
2. Although Bucharest newspapers reported Bothras' presence at the May
day parade, five participants in the ceremonies have reported that the
Minister of the Armed Forces was not in evidence.
NO large posters displaying the picture of Bodiliirap were put up in
Bucharest for I May. At the present time his pictures are being re-
moved from many public buildings.
4. Reports that Bodn:fra9 attempted to escape from Rumania and is presently
under house arrest continue to circulate in Bucharest.
Comment: .It is the custom in Rumania to display the portraits
of selected Soviet and Rumanian Communist leaders on Party and national
holidays.
