1. Laboring class Russians, Russian emigres or their decendents for the
most part, in Tientsin cannot see much difference in their status
since the Chinese Communists took over. At first the Communists tried
to persuade them to attend indoctrination classes but did not press
the issue when they refused. They are left alone.
2. Food prices for this class are lower than under the Nationalists and
jobs are obtainable, so thAt they feel as if they are making a good
living. They pay heavy taxes.
