25X1 I Iwas quartered in a cantonment east of the
field on October 1949. CO of the regiment was Lt Col I3arta,
a Communist. A pilot school and .NCO school were attached
to the regiment.

4. An 6N B air unit equipped with six K1e-109s and a training unit
were also stationed at the field in addition to two Ju-52s of
the Czoohoslovakian Air Lines operating, on C. Budejovice-Pilsen
(N 50/L 04)-Prague line.

September 1 .949. of the squadron was 2d Lt Jaroslav Ktaryt,
49, a Communist, The squadron was composed of 2 officers, 6 regu-
lar NCOs, and 22 TILT and was assigned to the 2d Air Base in C. Lude-
jovice whose CO was ,.Iaj Koukal.

7. The squadron maintained courier connections to various places
in Czechoslovakia. These fli ^,hts -Were also used for the Current
trainine. of pilots who did not belong to the squadron.
6. The followin ; other units were quartered in the cantonment
at the airfield:
ra technical company, an auxiliary company, a replacerlent com-
pany, an A unit (VKPL), a recruit training center, a weather
station, a telephone central, a radar station, an SNB air
unit, and the flight control station.
9. The field was equipped with drainage facilities. The construction
of a concrete runway (1,300 to 1,700 x 60 meters) was begun in
:;lay 1949. i=or this, a railroad siding was laid to the field.
Th3 work was done by politically unreliable soldiers. The
training; squadron occupied the two hangars on the northern edge
of the field 4

The occupation of the C. Ludejovice airfield has a^parently
not charmed since the last months. In addition to the units
mentioned in the report, the 5th Ptr Re rt of the 2d 1iir v is
assumed to be stationed at the fields 25X1
