Four field officers, includin,; one colonel, were seen with
the troops. The units were arrnec ,ljj;~I-it and heavy machine

The designation of the troops could not be ascertained. They
were allegedly to proceed northward.

The mountain unit (mountain infantry battalion ?) vin's'

bably entrained for fall maneuvers or for return to its
station. Te Rumanian Ainny maneuv.,rs were generally com-
pleted in late September 1949.
