THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. The Luka Construction Caapany is responsible for nearly all government
maritime construction projects aloe; the Dalmatian coast. For the last
few years, however, it has been engaged largely in naval defense projects.
2. Headquarters of this company is at Fiume, with branch offices and supply
warehouses at Split and Kotor. The company is under the direct orders
of the Ministry of National Defense in Belgrade. The rebuilding of
the port of Fiume, which was entrus ed to this company, is nearly com-
pleted and coastal defense projects are still in progress at Sibenik,
Kotor, and the islands of Bisevo, V:is and Losinj0
3. Director of Luka is Engineer Mrduljas, a. Communist and native of Split,
The chief engineer is Nenad Popovic., a Comraunist from Belgrade who,
before the wear, was a technical adviser to the Danube Commission at
Orsova, Rumania. A military officer supervises all personnel employed
by the company.
